Unfortunately I was right
So! I had an exciting day, to say the least.

All was normal up until lunch time, when I started having one of my little dizzy/overwhelmed spells. Know how I posted earlier about how I thought they might be simple partial seizures? Well, I was right about that. I know because this time, it progressed into a full blown-out seizure.

I really don't remember much of anything. I remember telling Remy and David (a co-worker) that I wasn't feeling well, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in an ambulance with an oxygen mask on. There was an EMT trying to ask me questions, but at the time, I was still pretty out of it and couldn't remember what I'd been doing all day. I remember seeing Empire Plaza through the back window though, and remarking that we were close to my home.

According to Remy, I became unresponsive, then all my muscles clenched up and I stopped breathing (my lips turned blue). After I started back up again, I was simply unconscious, and regained consciousness in the ambulance, as mentioned. So, for a seizure, I guess it wasn't too violent.

A co-worker drove Remy to the hospital to be with me, and we were in the ER for about five hours. A couple of doctors saw me, and I had a CT scan done, which came back negative. I was given a perscription and was told to follow up with a neurologist within 7-10 days for an EEG and MRI. Understandably, they want to try and figure out why I had the seizure.

I was told that I'm not allowed to drive for the next six months- or at least until they know what caused the seizure- which is going to be interesting. I was scheduled to go out of town to Ogdensburg next week- five hours away- but understandably, they're not going to send me. (I have to say, that's a positive in all this!) I probably won't be going on business trips for a long time.

I'm very glad that, if it had to happen, it happened at work, during lunchtime, with Remy right next to me. I was in the midst of teaching today; I don't know what they did with my students, heh! And to think I was all worried about not being able to stretch the class 'til 4:00, heh... ;)

All in all, rest assured, I'm fine now. I have a bit of a headache, I'm still a little out of it, and I have this little sticky snappy things attached to my torso that I need to remove (ouch!), but I'm doing okay. I got to watch lots of Dr. Who and Crocodile Hunter at the hospital, and Remy was there with me the whole time, so yay!

God, honey, I'm glad you're feeling better now.

To note though, when I was very young I would go into seizures (feveral seizures) because I could not control my body temp. Not all suizures are violent - mine were similar to your's.

It's good to see your manager is being reasonable in this. Oh, the lawsuits you could file if he wasn't!

glad to hear you are alright :-) this sounds similar to what happened to my mom about two years ago, if you need to talk or if remy does or what ever you know where to reach me

You're okay! YAY!!!

I hope they find out what it is (and they've been documented as being caused by chemical imbalances (aka withdrawl) or infections among some other things).

yikes. Hang in there!

That happened to my dad a few years ago- he's been on Dylantin for years, but one day he forgot to take his pills, and he had a seizure *while* he was driving me to my HS graduation. (No one was hurt.) The hardest part was definitely him not being able to drive for a few months, but they got him all sorted out in the end :)

Oh... and he LOVES his neurologist, if you ever want a recommendation. (his name's Dr. Holub.)

Hey! I know this was a while back, but I may just take you up on that recommendation, hehe (my neurologist at Albany Med has left me, shall we say, less than thrilled).

If you can send me anything about Dr. Holub- contact info, stuff like that- it would be muchly appreciated! My email address is (my lj user name) at gmail dot com.

Thank you! =)

I echo the sentiments of everyone else, Minna, I hope that things clear up for you soon!

Be well! Don't do that again!
