Updates n'nat
Booked the wedding photographer today! So let's see, what's left here... just need to find a dress for my sister/maid-of-honor, book ceremony music, buy rings, buy flowers, buy a cake, get the marriage license, and make sure we burn lots of good CDs for the reception (the place is too small for a dance floor and DJ; besides, I don't imagine many members of Nick's family are big dancers, hehe). Still have about a year to go, so I'd say we're ahead of the game. =)

Oh yeah, and I still have yet to decide whether I want to keep my last name or take Nick's. I'd like to take his as a show of unity, not to mention to spare myself from constant not-so-humorous-anymore mispronunciations... on the other hand, it makes me feel like he'd be sticking a "Property Of" name tag on me. Nick says it's my decision. And we all know how wonderfully decisive I am... should take me about the whole year to straighten this one out. >.<

I also got an interview! w00t! I guess that job fair wasn't so useless after all. ^_^ They'll be interviewing several people on campus next week; I have to sign up for a time slot tomorrow. I must get a good one. I can't afford to miss algorithms class (I'm having too much trouble in there to believe my exam grades will make up for poor participation), and I don't want to be stuck in Oakland after classes are done with nothing to do and nowhere to go for several hours. Besides, I'd have to be dressed up all day again, and by then my feet will be killing me if I have to wear those same half-size-too-small dress shoes...

Hyphenated names are pretty cool - you get the best of both worlds that way, IMO. It's a tricky call to make though, I'm sure.

My SIL's maiden name is Wackerlin, so she went from being a "Wacko" to a "Fucks" (aka Fuchs...check that spelling, yo!), heh heh heh. Ahh, names.

It's because of crap like the abovementioned that I'd like to change my last name, although I'm not planning on marrying to do it. Only problem is, I would prefer to be well out of my parents' shadow before I do it, because it would make them go ballistic. Why, I dunno, but you know how funny 'rents can be. *sigh*

Hey, Miu! Glad to see you're a much better organized woman than I am. I think i'd be huddled in a corner in a fetal position.

Thanks, Meow! Although I forgot to mention the officiant and the invitations. I think the guest list is going to be the hot item of contention from both sides of the family *shudder* "What? You don't want to invite dear Uncle Neverheardofhim?!"

Thanks for pointing out the hyphenation option, DP. ^_^ I've been keeping that in mind as well. Though I'm thinking Nick's last name would sound better in front of mine...

...say, might your mom's maiden name be a possibility for you? That way you might stave off the obligatory parental aneurysm, hehe... for a while after my 'rents divorced I had thought that if I didn't get married, I'd either take my mom's maiden name or change my last name into its French equivalent.

Unfortunately my parents are the kind who will bitch about things like this. And even if I could, I wouldn't want my mom's maiden name - it's "Czischki." Try spelling that sucker right all the time, let alone pronounce it. >.< I can't win, it seems.

*flips the middle finger at all the bastards who hath stained my last name with their evil taunts*
