Cake and Certs

For Remy's birthday, Angel made a lovely chai tea cake decorated with lovely piratey things. I know ellie is interested in the recipe, and I thought, heck- a lot of people probably are. So, I've reproduced it here. The original recipe is for cupcakes, but you can make a cake out of it by using, duh, a cake pan as opposed to a cupcake pan. As the Iranians say, noosh-eh jan! =)

Chai Tea Cupcakes

Ingredients (Cake)
1 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1/4 c. instant chai mix
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Ingredients (Frosting
3/4 c. softened cream cheese
1/4 c. instant chai mix
1/4 c. + 2 tsp. powdered sugar

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin pans with liners.
2. In a small bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, chai, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, beat butter until smooth. Beat in sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
3. Alternately beat flour mixture and milk into butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Pour batter into lined cups.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove cupcakes to a rack to cool.
5. For frosting, beat together cream cheese, chai mix, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.

Oh, yeah- and I passed the Word Expert test today! 781/1000, which is surprising 'cause I thought I did a lot better than that. Oh well, a pass is a pass, essentially. I also took Excel Expert yesterday, which was a bitch. Not only that, but they only had a BETA version of the exam available- meaning that I have to wait until a certain number of other people take it before the test-makers decide what a passing score is, and whether or not I passed as a result. I got a 754 on that test, and most of the tests I've seen, passing was 630. So, it's a safe bet that I did pass and am now a MOS Master! =)

For DOOMstructor, I have to wait until the summer, which is when the Outlook 2003 exam will be offered.

The Age of Wonders music is making me want to play the game. I think I'll install it and teach some people how to play. It seems insanely complicated the first time you try it, but after a while, the rules and tactics become second nature. Ah, turn-based strategy. ^_^
