Huzzah, it's Friday

Still no Internets at home. Should be rectified this coming Monday, though. =)

And, I was supposed to teach today, but this is obviously not what came to pass. Why? Well, I was teaching most of this week on a contingent basis. Because my medication screws with my mood so much (to the point where I'll freak out/start crying if something the least bit upsetting happens- yay, perpetual PMS!), I was officially slated to teach, but given the offer to pass off one or more classes to my boss if, for whatever reason, I wasn't up to teaching. Well, most of this week, teaching was a breeze- Fireworks and HTML, both decently fun classes, and both populated by people with actual working brains.

Yesterday, however, was PowerPoint. Which should be a fun class, if you don't have students who are like the students I had yesterday. I had to repeat every menu command at least three times. I had to walk around to peoples' computers and show them the same thing I showed them five minutes ago at least half a dozen times. I had to repeatedly explain the difference between "Save" and "Save As." I had to explain that saving a presentation would, in fact, save all the slides in that presentation, not just one. I had to repeatedly explain that you couldn't change the color/font/position/size/etc. of something if it wasn't selected. I HAD TO EXPLAIN THAT YOU COULD NOT PUT ARROWHEADS ON A GODDAMN CIRCLE.

Eight hours of this, people. Eight. Hours. It is a wonder that the whiteboard marker I carry around did not end up lodged in someone's (hollow) skull.

I go home, get myself nice and tipsy, play some Age of Wonders II (as the Dark Elves, so I can be eeeevil and stomp all over Halfling towns with my minions), and try to numb myself, for I know that on Friday, I'm slated to teach beginner-level Excel to a herd. Nineteen people. So, I do manage to numb myself. Then I go in Friday morning. I take a look at the roster... and one of the most clueless people from the PowerPoint class is slated to be in for Excel.

Bad thing happens. Bad thing is amplified by meds. I start crying at the front desk. Not my proudest moment. But my boss sees me, pulls me aside, and very graciously offers to teach for me. So, I owe her times a million. Today, I get to update the corporate website, keep an eye on other websites (Fark, LJ, etc.) and do not have to deal with idiots. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
