I knew- I KNEW- they were going to fuck this up so hard.

Suck it, Michael Bay. I'm not spending money on this. I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist.

( Who wants to bet that there'll be an Optimus/Arcee love story arc? Fucker. )

I often pretend things do not exist. There was no Highlander 2. For some reason, they made a Highlander and then a Highlander 3.

See, I am still of the opinion that Optimus Prime isn't that bad; its a bit weird, but makes sense to bring him into a 'believeable' real-life context. The flames annoy me but I can get over it.

Megatron, though. What the fuck is THAT?

After what's been proposed for Star Trek and Thundercats, clearly, nothing is sacred.

LOL, sorry this was a reply for Miusheri's post!

Not a problem! ;) And yeah, clearly, nothing is sacred. I'm just a bit breathless at the sudden frequency of things I like being so horribly violated.

Erm. Honestly I think Optimus looks pretty good. I think it's goofy that they're making Bumblebee a Camaro, but that's VW being douches, not the movie. Nothing I've seen so far makes me think "Oh no this is totally betraying the excellent and not at all cheesy source material" q:

In the end, as long as I see robots transforming into other things and blowing the hell out of each other, I'll be happy. Oh also as long as the toys are good. Also also the movie is going to have friggin' Ospreys in it which is badass.

On the other hand, the next Star Trek movie does in fact sound like it's going to be abysmal, to me.

Heh, it could be worse:
Look down (or don't look down! Heh heh.)

I guess I have to disagree with everyone and say the new Megatron looks pretty cool. Maybe my feelings of "having my memories raped" ran their course when I saw that 3D Beast Wars cartoon? I don't know. As much as I'd like to see the more classic look, I'm going into this with an open mind. I didn't hear too many people talking about how the first X-men movie screwed up the original designs after all. I see it as evolution--hopefully there's a good story to back it all up.

My first encounter with a screwed-up revision was the Superman movie. I didn't like the way it deviated from the comic books, and the second movie? Ack! Having to give up his powers to live with Lois Lane? Were they high? Anyway, I did enjoy the movie, and it's regarded as the first high-quality superhero movie. There was a pretty wide gulf between that one and X-Men which to me touched off the current hero movie movement that keeps accelerating. There were noteworthy movies like Batman, Darkman, Blade, and fun things like Robocop and Vindicator (I have to bring that one up!) but X-Men was a focal point to me. Between that and Spiderman, there is pressure to make any superhero movie a good one, and so far it's been a good decade for these things.

As for Highlander... I do stand by my statement of "There should have been only one!" Heh heh. I ranted plenty on my own website about that one (and it's an old page from way back!)

Is there an actual Thundercats movie in the works? I keep seeing what amounts to wishful thinking. Just for fun, here's my bit of wishful thinking:

Thundercats (the Motion Picture,) directed by Bryan Singer. Starring Rebecca Romijn as Cheetara and Ian McKellan as Mumm-Ra. I can't think of anyone else, which pretty much shows where my mind goes. Heh heh. I think it should be co-written by Demonprist and Cheezey (or perhaps based off my humble work?)

Anyway, here's my vision of a trailer: black screen with occasion text popping up.

"Lost on a strange planet"
"Their home destroyed"
"The last of their kind"
"With nothing but their code"

We see flashes of Lion-O lying on his back in a dark place, revealing a hand with fingers extended to long spikes that are going through his shoulder and into the dark marble below. A large menacing figure looms overhead and all we see is from his nose to his chin, and a little of faded blue and red rag strips. His deep voice speaks in a ragged half-whisper, "This is my world."

We see a black screen with lettering again as maniacal laughter fades in the distance: "Not your father's Thundercats!" "Coming soon..." and a flash of the logo.

Okay, it would really be a Mumm-Ra movie, but isn't that what we really want? *looks around*
