Randomness
I might've figured out why I've switched full-time jobs so often since leaving college (this will be my third): the two week notice period is about the most stress-free, satisfying occupational experience. You're free to neglect stupid managerial decisions. Your time is a lot freer because no one can assign you more work; you won't be around to do it. As for the remaining work you do have, you're free to totally half-ass it.

Because, honestly, what are they going to do? Fire you?

I don't think that's really the reason- I don't know if I just haven't found my niche yet, or if I'm too picky/whiny/spoiled/jaded and I need to suck it up and deal- but I'm too busy basking in the freedom to think too much on that. It's a prep day and I have nothing to prep, so I'll be doing some writing and reading today. Writing for the Star Trek role-plays and possibly other things, reading Carl Sagan's Broca's Brain. I've read a slew of Carl Sagan's work over the years, and I've never found a book of his that didn't utterly fascinate me.

In other news, Ray bought a Corvette! 2005, red, 4500 miles, and loaded with extras. Extras like a navigation system and- wait for it- a HUD. *geekgasm* It's going to be my parents' summer car in Pittsburgh, and it will spend its winters at their vacation home in Florida. They'll be picking it up from Washington DC this weekend.

This means that I must, I must, get back to Pittsburgh before wintertime to test drive see it. ;)

I also want to go to Boston and NYC sometime soon with Remy. NYC because it's just down the road practically, and Boston because a) I've never been and b) lordjosh2004 is in close proximity, and I haven't seen him in ages. We need to swap tales of married life and the work world and general geekness, old friend.

Tonight, ellie shall be visiting/sleeping over, and I for one can't wait! I really have to clean up around the apartment first, though!

Boston is closer than NYC. Or at least, roughly equidistant. And I need to get back to the Science Museum. That place fucking rocks.

Hey, I'm no geographist. ;)

And yes, I totally want to see that too!

OMG, all you two need to do is spend a Friday night here and then we drive to Poughkeepsie and take the train to the City.

I would be a most generous tour guide!

I'd love that!!

Shoot, if you're going to be in NYC then you might as well drive the extra couple of hours and come down to Philly! :D

Oh, I definitely plan to one of these days, imouto-chan! My only trip to Philly was to visit UPenn, coincidentally enough, but I'd be happy to tour it again and see whatever else you'd like to show me! =)

Hee, I'd be more than happy to play tour guide anytime you'd like. =)

I've been wanting to visit both NYC and Boston since I returned from the Dread South. I so want to see the Met again!

Dude, yeah, you should totally come to Boston, and we should hit up the Science Museum. It is a fun time.

Oh, yeah, and one more thing...Leonard Nimoy was born and raised just down the street from the Science Museum, and he lent his voice to the Mugar Omni Theater (IMAX there)...it is pretty rad.

That would rock! Remy's excited about this plan as well. We'll have to make arrangements sometime soon. I will, of course, let you know the details once we nail them down!
